XP Problem with old games

Hi,

I am running a Pentium 4 2ghz with 512 megs of ram and Windows XP Home Ed. I am trying to play games like Half-Life, Theme Park Inc, Tiger Woods 2000, Grand Theft Auto London and other quite old games. When i install them and try to play, i either get an error message or the game looks as though it will run and then just returns to the desktop with no error or anything. Is this an unsolvable problem with Windows XP?

Any help will be much appreciated.
